The Mycrospace Blog | Microbiology, colony counting and innovation

There's an entire world that fits inside a petri dish. Every day, in thousands of laboratories, people peer into that world and count, one by one, the colonies that have grown overnight. Things almost no one sees depend on that count: that the water you drink is safe, that wine arrives without defects, that a food won't make you sick, that your face cream is perfect.

And yet, nobody talks about microbiology. Even microbiologists themselves are unaware of the work being done in other sectors. This blog exists to change that…

This blog aims to be a window into the microscopic world for all of you — technicians, managers, students, researchers, curious minds, entrepreneurs, everyone. If you're curious about what lies behind every glass of wine, the analysis of your neighbour's pool, the health of your village's soil, or the production line of your favourite lipstick… this is your place.

In this space we will NOT sell, we will not advertise, we will talk about cutting-edge science and technology. We're going to cover many interconnected topics. Sometimes we'll dig into the accreditations that micro labs need, and how to achieve bulletproof traceability. Other times we'll talk about fascinating microorganisms and their industrial applications. The possibilities are endless, but here are some of the topics we'll cover:

  1. Technological trends in microbiology

  2. Laboratory regulations and standards

  3. Beyond the colony: the microbiology nobody knows

  4. The digitalisation problem

  5. Transparency and outreach about our technology

  6. Microorganisms and their macro-applications

From here, in our offices in the city of Valencia, we encourage you to be an active part of this blog — share it with your colleagues, friends and family. And above all, reach out if you have a microbiology story to tell the world; we'd love to give your science a voice.

Even better, our newsletter will deliver the blog straight to your inbox every week, so you can reply to us directly — we want to keep the conversation and interaction alive. Subscribe in 1 second below.

Sincerely,

The Mycrospace team
